Background:
My parents moved from Korea in the 70s and started a family in California. Dad was an AeroSpace Engineer before retiring and my mom owned a beauty/gift shop in Gardena.

I was born in Glendale and raised mostly in North Torrance before moving to Redondo in my early 20s. I speaks very little Korean (maybe equivalent to a 5yr old) 😆

Attended California State University, Long Beach and got my degree in Liberal Studies/Child & Human Development, before going to the University of Phoenix for my teaching credentials.

Favorites

Food: Avocados, sandwiches, potato/mac salads & fries 😹

Song: All time favorite is "Feeling Good" by Nina Simone

Music to listen to on the way to work: Young the Giant, Houses, The Jungle Giants, The Postal Service, Dayglow, The Lumineers, & Two Door Cinema Club.

Favorite Subjects when I was in school: Math, Ceramics/Art, Geology & Writing

Favorite Movie: "Galaxy Quest"

TV Shows: "Big Bang Theory". I had more on the list but realized that they are all rated "TV-14". So when you turn 14yo I will share.

Diet/Lifestyle: Vegetarian-Almost Vegan: I decided to give up meat a few years ago from my diet. Many people choose a plant-based diet for health reasons, but I mainly chose this due to the fact that I love animals too much. A few movies influenced my decision: "Cowspiracy" and "What the Health?" Both on Netflix right now.

This one is of my sisters and I. I'm the middle child and also in the picture. My older sister on the left is in Marketing and the little sister on the right is in mental health.

I got into making Morse-Code bracelets with secret messages for the gift-receiver.

We teachers got to paint one day for Teacher Appreciation Week. Paint supplies were given and we all got to relax and paint. I continued to work on my painting throughout the week and came up with this.

Spending Time with Family

Love spending time with my family...especially my "Never-a-dull-moment" husband Ian.

My husband is a trail runner, writer, and a meditating vegan. He also volunteered at our school running the "fitness club" that incorporates running, compression, yoga, tai chi, kungfu, and more.

We also enjoy hanging out with my nieces and nephews.

My kitties...Bun & Marlowe

Picture
Bun used to live with a group of homeless people and then was bullied and picked on by other cats when she lived in her foster mom's house. We rescued her when she was about 3 years old.
She loves to hang out on our laps and even shoulders. Her foster mom named her "Bunny" because she would jump up and pounce like a rabbit when she's excited.

Before Marlowe was rescued by his foster family, he was living by the railroad tracks. We adopted him and he loved Bun right a way,...she had mixed feelings.
He is super muscular and dense. Marlowe loves to run and be active. This guy reminds me of Mike Tyson, big and buff, but sounds like a sweet little thing.

Remembering Marlowe..10/31/23
Marlowe passed away at home this morning after several months of fighting his diabetes. We've adopted him in 2010 when he was just 2 years old. He was the sweetest cat and loved his adopted sister Bun so much. You will be so missed!
Love you, Handsome Buddy.
